March 6, 2021
Today is March 6th, which mean’s it’s National Dentist’s Day! You may have never heard of this holiday; in fact, you could even be one of the millions of people who fear a trip to the dentist’s office. However, this important day brings some awareness and recognition to all your dentist does to keep your family healthy and smiling. Read on to learn more about dentists and why we should celebrate them!
National Dentist’s Day: What is It?
Dentists have been around since about 2600 BCE – the first recorded dentist was an Egyptian named Hesy Ra, who was thought to have practiced dentistry as his main profession. That said, the French surgeon, Pierre Fauchard, didn’t appear until 1723. He is known as the “father of dentistry,” starting what we know as modern dental care today.
Dentistry is an old, very respected career that requires lots of hard work, dedication, and above all else, desire to help others. Dentists devote so much time and effort to caring for patients, listening to their needs, ensuring they’re comfortable, and providing the best oral health care results. That’s why March 6th is a dedicated time to think about your dentist, your dental office, and the importance of the amazing healthcare you receive! One day a year, you can shine a light on your dentist, the unsung hero that helps you smile each day.
Why Should You Celebrate Your Dentist?
Whether it’s routine checkups and cleanings for your child, or an urgent emergency that leaves your smile in pain, your dentist is there when you need them most. However, you may often take the significant role that a dental expert plays in you and your family’s health and development for granted. Instead, millions of Americans are fearful and afraid to even visit a dental practice.
From your first tooth to necessary smile replacements after decades of wear and tear, your dentist will help you enjoy your best smile. Doesn’t that deserve some celebration? Just keep this in mind for today’s holiday (and in the future).
The Best Ways to Celebrate!
So how can you celebrate your dentist? Well, keeping your teeth clean of course! March 6th can be a day that you tighten up any parts of your dental routine that need some help. Be sure you’re brushing twice a day for two minutes each session as well as flossing once. If you don’t have a dental appointment on your horizon, today is the perfect day to schedule one (your dentist would love nothing more)!
It may be your first time celebrating National Dentist’s Day, but you should mark your calendar each year to remember and recognize your dental pro for all they do for you. Just take care of your smile in their honor until you see them next!
